Sinigang sa Miso na Maya-Maya and Fried Samaral

I don’t know the good English translation of Sinigang sa Miso na Maya-Maya. I’ll just translate Sinigang sa Miso na Maya-Maya and Samaral word for word:

Sinigang = sour broth

Miso = see this link

Maya-Maya = white/red snapper

Samaral = rabbitfish/ spinefeet

This dish was eaten last week; I was not able to share this soon because of our Internet connection. I shared my Globe rants here. Anyways, here are the recipes:

For Sinigang:

½ Maya-maya

Miso

Ginger

Onion

Garlic

Mustasa (mustard greens)

Oil (for frying the fish and sauteing)

Salt and pepper

sinigang mix

For Fried Samaral:

1 big Samaral

Oil for frying

Banana leaves (for wrapping the samaral)

Salt and pepper

How to cook the Sinigang:

  1. Season the maya-maya with salt and pepper.
  2. Fry the fish until golden brown.
  3. Set the fish aside.
  4. Sauté the ginger, onion and then garlic in another pan.
  5. Put the fried maya-maya when the three spices is already golden brown.
  6. Sauté them for 5 minutes. Add small amount of salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Add water and wait until it boils
  8. Add the miso and sinigang mix.
  9. Boil for a few minutes and then serve hot.

Frying the Samaral:

  1. Season the samaral with salt and pepper
  2. Wrap the fish with the banana leaves
  3. Fry the wrapped fish in hot boiling oil for about 7 minutes for each side in medium heat fire.
  4. Serve the fried fish with the Sinigang.

Try this dish! You can add more vegetables in the Sinigang like raddish and string beans.

Sinigang sa Miso na Maya-Maya and Fried Samaral

I don’t know the good English translation of Sinigang sa Miso na Maya-Maya. I’ll just translate Sinigang sa Miso na Maya-Maya and Samaral word for word:

Sinigang = sour broth

Miso = see this link

Maya-Maya = white/red snapper

Samaral = rabbitfish/ spinefeet

This dish was eaten last week; I was not able to share this soon because of our Internet connection. I shared my Globe rants here. Anyways, here are the recipes:

For Sinigang:

½ Maya-maya

Miso

Ginger

Onion

Garlic

Mustasa (mustard greens)

Oil (for frying the fish and sauteing)

Salt and pepper

sinigang mix

For Fried Samaral:

1 big Samaral

Oil for frying

Banana leaves (for wrapping the samaral)

Salt and pepper

How to cook the Sinigang:

  1. Season the maya-maya with salt and pepper.
  2. Fry the fish until golden brown.
  3. Set the fish aside.
  4. Sauté the ginger, onion and then garlic in another pan.
  5. Put the fried maya-maya when the three spices is already golden brown.
  6. Sauté them for 5 minutes. Add small amount of salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Add water and wait until it boils
  8. Add the miso and sinigang mix.
  9. Boil for a few minutes and then serve hot.

Frying the Samaral:

  1. Season the samaral with salt and pepper
  2. Wrap the fish with the banana leaves
  3. Fry the wrapped fish in hot boiling oil for about 7 minutes for each side in medium heat fire.
  4. Serve the fried fish with the Sinigang.

Try this dish! You can add more vegetables in the Sinigang like raddish and string beans.
